Faculty Development Programme on Innovative Pedagogy
MSNM Besant Institute of Post Graduate Studies organised a Faculty Development Programme on Innovative Pedagogy for the benefit of faculty members of the various educational institutions of the region. The full day programme was hosted at MSNM Besant campus at Bondel, Mangalore on Friday, October 18, 2019. The objective of the programme was to provide insights into innovative teaching-learning methods, use of blended learning and digital tools. Sixty one faculty members from seventeen colleges attended the programme.
Dr. Vasudev Rao, Former Director, TA Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) inaugurated the programme. Addressing the delegates, Dr. Rao said: “Faculty members should implement new and creative teaching methods in order to excel in the teaching profession. You should have a combination of traditional and innovative approach depending on the subject and student profile.” He identified six pedagogical types, namely Blended Learning, Gamification, Computational thinking including use of AI, Experiential Learning, Embodied Learning and Multi Literacy and discussion based learning and design thinking.
Mr. K. Devanand Pai, Secretary, Women’s National Education Society (WNES) presided over the inauguration function. Dr. Simon George, Professor, Dean TAPMI; Dr. Suprabha, Asst. Professor, NITK School of Management; Dr. Molly S. Chauduri, Director, MSNM Besant Institute; Mrs. Reema Agnes Frank, Asst. Professor, MSNM Besant and Mr. Mudassir Khadar, Asst. Professor, MSNM Besant were the resource persons for the programme.
Dr. Molly S. Chaudhuri, Director, MSNM Besant Institute, welcomed the gathering. Ms. Chandrika, Asst. Professor, compered the programme. Mrs Ashalatha, Mrs. Usha Mogra and Mrs. Reema Frank Agnes, Asst. Professors, were the programme coordinators.
