Workshop on Navigating the Literature : Essential Skills for Ph.D. Researchers
This workshop was designed to equip participants with the essential skills to conduct comprehensive literature reviews and structure their research papers effectively. The session was taken up by two resource persons – Dr. Shilpi Saha and Mrs. Aditi Kamath. The session covered key aspects of the research process, including:
Understanding the Literature Review
- Defining the scope and objectives of the review
- Identifying relevant databases and search strategies
- Critically evaluating sources and synthesizing information
- Organizing and structuring the review
Structuring the Research Paper
- Developing a strong research question and thesis statement
- Creating a logical and coherent paper outline
- Writing clear and concise introductions, literature reviews, methodologies, results, Discussions, and conclusions
- Formatting and referencing according to specific style guidelines (e.g., APA, MLA, Chicago)
Demonstration of SciSpace
In addition to the theoretical aspects, the workshop included a practical demonstration of SciSpace, a powerful AI-powered research tool. SciSpace was showcased to:
- Accelerate Literature Search: Efficiently identify relevant research papers and articles.
- Extract Key Information: Quickly summarize key points and arguments from complex papers.
- Visualize Knowledge Graphs: Understand the relationships between concepts and authors.
- Generate Literature Reviews: Automatically generate structured literature reviews based on identified research papers.
