Mastering Phonetics by Mrs. Nisha Shetty

The Language Lab, in association with IQAC, organized a session on “Mastering Phonetics” on 1st August 2025 at Swarna Academy Hall. The session was designed to help participants improve their understanding of English phonetics and enhance their pronunciation, aiming to build students’ confidence in speaking English more clearly and effectively.

The resource person for the session was Ms. Nisha Shetty, an experienced freelance trainer and former Principal of Mahesh Pre-University College. With her extensive expertise in language education, Ms. Shetty provided valuable insights into the fundamentals of phonetics, including sound production, articulation, intonation, and stress patterns.

Through interactive activities and demonstrations, Ms. Shetty engaged participants in understanding phonetic symbols and their correct usage. She highlighted the importance of phonetics in both academic and professional contexts and encouraged students to practice consistently to improve their spoken English.

The programme began with a warm welcome by Ms. Vaishnavi, and concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Keshav Karanth, expressing gratitude to Ms. Nisha Shetty for her insightful contribution. Participants appreciated the clarity of instruction and engaging teaching methods, making the session highly beneficial for refining spoken English skills.
