Session on Beyond Bias Building Gender Sensitivity
The Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management (MSNIM), Besant Campus, Mangaluru, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Internal Committee, organized an awareness talk on "Beyond Bias: Building Gender Sensitivity" on 22 May 2026 at the college campus. The programme aimed to promote awareness of gender sensitivity, equality, and the importance of fostering an inclusive and respectful environment in educational institutions and workplaces.
The session was delivered by Merlyn Martis, who highlighted the significance of overcoming gender stereotypes and unconscious biases in society. Through engaging discussions and practical examples, she emphasized the role of education in promoting gender equity, mutual respect, and equal opportunities for all individuals.
The resource person also shared real-life experiences to help participants understand the impact of gender discrimination and the need to create safe, supportive, and inclusive spaces. She encouraged students and faculty members to reflect on their attitudes and behaviours and inspired them to become advocates for gender equality in both their personal and professional lives.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members, who actively engaged with the speaker during the interactive discussion session. The event successfully achieved its objective of enhancing awareness, promoting inclusiveness, and encouraging a culture of equality and mutual respect, making it a meaningful and enriching learning experience for all participants.
