The Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management, Bondel, Mangalore, organized a guest talk on the topic “Role of AI in Banking” on 18th July 2025 at Swarna Hall. The session was delivered by Dr. K Rajesh Nayak, Director-Training at the College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS), Muscat, Sultanate of Oman.

The objective of the talk was to introduce students to the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the banking sector and its future potential. Dr. Nayak began by explaining the fundamentals of AI and its practical applications in banking operations. He elaborated on how AI technologies such as machine learning, natural language processing, and robotic process automation are transforming the industry by:

  • Improving customer service through chatbots
  • Enhancing fraud detection systems
  • Streamlining credit scoring processes
  • Enabling more accurate risk assessments

He highlighted that AI is driving increased efficiency, cost reduction, and improved decision-making in financial institutions. Dr. Nayak also addressed key concerns related to data privacy, cybersecurity, and the ethical implications of deploying AI in sensitive financial services.

The session featured real-life case studies from global banks and financial institutions that have successfully integrated AI into their operations. It concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where students actively engaged by posing insightful questions on topics such as AI’s impact on employment and the skills required to adapt to emerging technologies.
