Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management, Bondel, Mangalore, organised a guest talk on the topic “Role of AI in Banking” on 18th July 2025 at Swarna Hall. The session was delivered by Dr. K Rajesh Nayak, Director - Training, College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS), Muscat, Sultanate of Oman.

The objective of the talk was to familiarize students with the growing influence and future potential of Artificial Intelligence in the banking sector. Dr. Nayak began by explaining the fundamentals of AI and its applications in banking operations. He elaborated on how AI technologies such as machine learning, natural language processing, and robotic process automation are transforming the sector by improving customer service through chatbots, enhancing fraud detection systems, streamlining credit scoring, and enabling more accurate risk assessment.

He also highlighted how AI is contributing to increased operational efficiency, cost reduction, and better decision-making within financial institutions. Additionally, Dr. Nayak addressed key concerns related to data privacy, cybersecurity, and the ethical implications of deploying AI in sensitive financial services. Real-life case studies from global banks were shared to illustrate the practical integration of AI in banking.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment, where students posed insightful questions regarding AI’s impact on employment and the skills required to adapt to such technological advancements. Overall, the talk was highly informative and enriching, equipping students with valuable knowledge about the evolving role of AI in shaping the future of banking.
