As part of the Manel Srinivas Nayak Memorial Health Series, a special awareness session on “Menstruation” was organized on 31st July 2025 in association with IQAC, the Grievance Redressal Committee, and the Women Development Cell.
The session aimed to raise awareness about menstrual health, hygiene, and the importance of breaking social taboos surrounding the topic. The resource person for the session was Dr. Nina Mahale, a renowned Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Laparoscopic Surgeon, and Additional Professor at KMC Attavar Hospital, Mangaluru.
Dr. Mahale provided valuable insights into the biological, psychological, and social aspects of menstruation. She addressed common misconceptions, emphasized the significance of proper menstrual hygiene, and encouraged open discussions—especially among the youth—to create a more informed perspective on the subject.
The interactive and engaging session saw enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and staff, fostering an inclusive environment for dialogue. It was a meaningful step toward promoting awareness and empowering individuals with knowledge about menstrual health.
