Kesardh Onji Dina (A day in Mud)
Kesard Onji Dina – A Day in Mud was organized on 28th July 2025 at the scenic Sri Amrutheshwara Temple, Thiruvail, Vamanjoor. The event aimed to celebrate traditional rural games, promote physical fitness, and foster unity and interaction among participants.
The program commenced at 10:00 a.m. with an inaugural function graced by several dignitaries, adding significance to the occasion. The Chief Guest for the day was Sri. Om Prakash Shetty, President of Gurupura Vyavasaya Seva Sahakari Sangha. Guests of Honor included Sri. Balakrishna Bhat, Pradhana Archakaru of Sri Amrutheshwara Temple; Sri. Seetharama Aithal from Sri Mangaladevi Temple; Sri. Balakrishna Shetty from Alike Gutthu; Sri. Rajesh Kottary, President of Hindu Seva Samaja Trust; and Smt. Hemalatha Raghu Salian, former Corporator of Mangalore City Corporation. Their encouraging presence inspired enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members.
The day featured various traditional rural sports conducted in the slushy paddy fields near the temple. Events such as running races, backward running, round and round run, three-legged race, paale race, volleyball, throwball, and tug of war were held separately for boys and girls where necessary. Individual competitions like treasure hunt and pot breaking added to the excitement. Faculty members also participated alongside students in select games, creating a cheerful and friendly atmosphere.
A wholesome traditional lunch was served to all attendees, followed by the continuation of events into the afternoon. Evening snacks were also provided to refresh participants and guests.
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony to honor the winners, followed by a heartfelt vote of thanks to dignitaries, faculty, students, volunteers, and the organizing team for their contributions.
Kesard Onji Dina was more than just a day of games—it successfully revived traditional cultural practices and strengthened community spirit, leaving participants with a memorable and enriching experience.
