District Level Launch of ‘Catch the Rain’ Campaign under National Water Mission Scheme at MSNIM in Association with Nehru Yuva Kendra, Dakshina Kannada
Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management(MSNIM) in association with Nehru Yuva Kendra, Dakshina Kannada organized thedistrict level launch of ‘Catch the Rain’ campaign under National Water MissionScheme on Tuesday January 19 at MSNIM campus, Bondel.
Dr Jagadisha Bala, the principal of GovernmentFirst Grade College, Balmatta was the chief guest. He symbolically launched thecampaign by watering a sapling before an audience comprising of MBA studentsand the institute’s faculty.
In his address, Dr Jagadisha Bala enlightened the students onthe need for water conservation and rainwater harvesting. He stressed theimportance of involving the youth in the revolutionary movement. “Building damsand digging borewells are not solutions for sustaining water. Mangaluru isblessed with two monsoons. We need to make all efforts to conserve watershowered on us in abundance during the rainy season. Let us begin the waterconservation by saving at home. Those who talk about water management mustplant a sapling first."
‘Catch the Rain’ campaign seeks to increase the involvement ofthe youth in promoting water conservation. Raghuveer Souterpete, district youthofficer, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Mangaluru was the coordinator of the campaign.
Dr Molly S Chaudhuri, director of MSNIM presided over theprogramme. Mithali 2nd MBA compered the programme. Jeevan 2nddelivered the vote of thanks. Prof. Divya M Shetty coordinated the programme.
