The Anti-Drug Committee of Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management organized an Awareness Programme on Drug Abuse on 8th August 2025 at Swarna Academy Hall, Mangalore. The event was presided over by Director Dr. Molly S. Chaudhuri, who welcomed the gathering and emphasized the significance of such initiatives in educational institutions to nurture a responsible and aware generation.

The keynote addresses were delivered by Mr. Raghavendra M Byndoor, Police Inspector, and Mr. Mallikarjuna Biradar, Police Sub-Inspector, both from Kavoor Police Station, Mangalore.

Mr. Raghavendra M Byndoor spoke on the psychological, health, and social consequences of drug abuse, discussing root causes such as peer pressure, stress, and misinformation. He underlined the role of individual responsibility and the support of family and institutions in prevention.

Mr. Mallikarjuna Biradar focused on the legal implications of drug possession and trafficking, sharing real-life incidents to highlight the severity of the issue. He stressed the importance of early intervention and community cooperation in curbing drug abuse.

The session was interactive, with enthusiastic participation from students who posed relevant questions and engaged in meaningful discussions. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and a pledge by all attendees to remain drug-free and promote awareness among peers.
