Anti Ragging Awareness Program

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Anti-Ragging Committee of Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management (MSNIM), in association with the Kavoor Police Station, organized an Anti-Ragging Awareness Programme on 8th August 2025 at the Swarna Academy Hall, MSNIM Campus, Bondel, Mangaluru. The initiative aimed to educate students about the harmful effects of ragging, its legal consequences, and the importance of creating a safe and respectful campus environment.

The session was graced by Mr. Raghavendra M Byndoor, Police Inspector, and Mr. Mallikarjuna Biradar, Police Sub-Inspector, from Kavoor Police Station as the resource persons.

In his address, Mr. Raghavendra M Byndoor outlined the legal provisions against ragging under the Indian Penal Code and UGC regulations. He emphasized that ragging is a punishable offence with severe repercussions, including imprisonment and expulsion.

Mr. Mallikarjuna Biradar spoke on the psychological impact of ragging, urging students to build a culture of empathy, inclusiveness, and mutual respect. He encouraged reporting any instances of ragging without fear, assuring confidentiality of identity.

Dr. Molly S. Chaudhuri, Director of MSNIM, highlighted how ragging has evolved into a societal menace and stressed the importance of collective action to eradicate it. She urged students to uphold values of respect, empathy, and responsibility for a healthy academic environment.

The programme began with a warm welcome by Shreya Mahale of 2nd year MBA and concluded with a vote of thanks by Shreya S of 1st year MBA, expressing gratitude to the speakers and organisers.

The event reaffirmed the institute’s zero-tolerance policy towards ragging and strengthened the collective commitment to ensuring a safe, supportive, and respectful campus.
