MSNIM-Rotary Biz Quiz 2023
Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management (MSNIM), in association with the Rotary Club of Mangalore North, organised ‘MSNIM-Rotary Biz Quiz 2023’ on Friday, July 7, at the institute campus at Bondel in the city. Students from 18-degree colleges from Uttara Kannada, Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts participated in the business quiz. Sachin R Chandra, assistant professor, department of commerce, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, was the quizmaster.
Ganesh Krishna Bhat, president, Rotary Club of Mangalore North, and member of the governing council of the Women's National Education Society (WNES), inaugurated the event. Canara College, Mangaluru, emerged as the winners of the quiz. University College, Mangaluru, came second and SKVMS First Grade College, Koteshwara, secured third place.
Dr K Rajesh Nayak, director, Training College of Banking and Financial Studies, Sultanate of Oman; Dr Alwyn D’Sa, registrar, St Aloysius College, Mangalore, and Prasanna Mallya, secretary of Rotary Club Mangalore North, were the guests of honour for the valedictory programme and prize distribution. Manel Annappa Nayak, president, WNES, presided over the function. Jeevandas Narayan, secretary, WNES, and correspondent, MSNIM, Raghav Kamath, member, Governing Body, MSNIM, Ajith Rao, bulletin editor; and T J Shenoy of Rotary Club Mangaluru North were present on the occasion.
In his address, Dr K Rajesh Nayak appreciated the quiz format followed by MSNIM-Rotary and encouraged the students by narrating his experience in quizzing. "Quiz encourages students to read and build their knowledge. Winning in extracurricular activities is just the beginning of the long educational journey and of career success," he said.
Dr Alwyn D’Sa highlighted the importance of quiz and urged the students to strive hard for success.
In his presidential address, Manel Annappa Nayak observed that MSNIM and Rotary have been jointly organising the business quiz for the last seven years. "MSNIM-Rotary Biz Quiz has been one of the most eagerly awaited events for the last seven years. We began with the intention to bridge the gap between current affairs and academics, but today we have extended this widely to reach out to rural areas also," he said.
The institute director, Dr Molly S Chaudhuri, welcomed the gathering. Suresh Shenoy, faculty coordinator of the Quiz, gave a briefing on the event. Avanthika rendered the prayer. Assistant professor Dr Reema Agnes Frank gave a vote of thanks. Assistant professor Nanditha Sunil anchored the programme.
Canara College, Mangalore, emerges as the winners; University College, Mangaluru, and SKVMS First Grade College, Koteshwara, secure second and third place.
