The Program began at 3.00 P.M at the Swarna Academy Hall. The program began with the introduction of GST by Ms. Hemalatha N –Assistant commissioner Commercial tax Audit department. She said that Karnataka will achieve its targeted tax collection within stipulated time while increasing tax collection and tax base for 2017-2018.Compared to previous tax regime there has been increase in compliance because of various benefits like Input tax Credit, ease of doing business, transparency and accountability leading to streamlining of tax collection for the Government. The tax base has increased with 8.11 lakhs registered dealers compared to 5.84 lakhs earlier. In addition, 1.7 million have obtained voluntary registration.
