One-Day International Conference (Hybrid)
Under the aegis of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in Collaboration with INTI International University Association with Manipal Academy of Higher Education(MAHE) Organizes One-Day International Conference (Hybrid) on Adoption of Artificial Intelligence : Opportunities and Challenges in Business and Management
Mangaluru, Jul 2: Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management (MSNIM), in collaboration with INTI International University, Malaysia, and Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), organized a hybrid international conference titled 'Adoption of Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities and Challenges in Business and Management' on June 28, at the institute campus in Bondel.
The conference saw the participation of 178 delegates, including faculty, research scholars, and students, and received 60 papers from six states and four countries including the UAE, Malaysia and USA. A CD of the proceedings was released.
The conference was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp. Dr Sandeep Shenoy, professor and HOD, department of commerce, MAHE, was the chief guest, and prof Wong Ling Shing from INTI International University was the guest of honour. Manel Annappa Nayak, president of the Women’s National Education Society (WNES), presided.
Dr Shenoy discussed the differences between natural and artificial intelligence and their implications for business, stating that AI will create job opportunities over the next decade despite potential challenges like data security risks. Prof Wong Ling Shing highlighted AI's role in driving efficiency. Manel Annappa Nayak emphasized AI's potential to automate tasks and enhance efficiency while raising ethical, job security, and privacy concerns.
Dr Molly S Chaudhuri, institute director, welcomed the gathering. Assistant professors Sathvika Shetty, Sanath Bhandarkar, and Nanditha Sunil introduced the dignitaries. Dr Shilpi Saha, the conference convener, provided an overview, and Dr Reema Agnes Frank delivered the vote of thanks. Assistant professor Aditi Kamath served as the master of ceremonies.
Keynote speakers included Dr Ankitha Shetty from MAHE and Dr Cheng Kai Wah from INTI International University. Dr Shetty highlighted AI integration in education, mentioning virtual teaching assistants and predictive analytics. Dr Cheng Kai Wah discussed AI's opportunities in risk management and customer experience, along with challenges such as skill gaps and ethical concerns.
An industry panel discussion was moderated by Dr Rohini Rao from MIT, Manipal, featuring Ritu Grover (Khaitan & Co), Padma Bhamidipati (Infosys), Ashish Tendulkar (Google), and Rajesh Dhillon (Acies Innovation). They discussed AI's role in various life aspects and its acceptance as a tool.
The valedictory programme featured Sankarasubbu Arunachalam, senior principal technology architect, head of architecture service from Infosys, who spoke about AI enhancing consumer experience through personalization, business process improvement, and predictive models. Presiding over the function, Ajith Kamath, chairman, CII, Mangalore chapter and governing council member, WNES, emphasized embracing technological changes.
Dr Reema Agnes Frank, assistant professor, welcomed the gathering. Assistant professors Sanath Bhandarkar introduced the dignitaries, Dr Shilpi Saha presented the conference report, and assistant professor Nanditha Sunil announced the awards. Assistant professor Sathvika Shetty delivered the vote of thanks. Assistant professor Aditi Kamath was the master of ceremonies.
