Brian Fernandes Chief Editor, NewsKarnataka gave an overview to the students on Entrepreneurial Opportunities in Stock Market. He stated that media is the fourth pillar of democracy and media has responsibility to report the facts without any kind of manipulation. Media has the power to Influence our minds but sadly someday else influences them in the current age which could be governments that promote their projects and pump in money as sponsorships to the media houses. Other business corporate use media for business promotions. Ideally Media has to positively influence but they also have their own agenda.

He mentioned how Negative Reporting and Fake Media Affects the Real Truth wherein my truth may not be your truth. He quoted “If a dog bites a man, it will not become news but if a man bites a dog, it will become news”. The newspaper is filled with negative reporting as compared to relevant information. He told the students to inculcate the habit of reading the newspapers to get a different perspective on any item and also to enhance their vocabulary. He also promoted his paper called NewsKarnataka and a Magazine called Karnataka Today.
